Kelly on the radio!

New year, new start. Well actually, I decided around the 20th December 2011 that I would start my new years resolutions in my business. I was to tidy up my office, file things away (even neater than usual) and take up opportunities quickly without thinking about them too much. By the 3rd January when I started back at work, I was in a great position to do this. Therefore, when Sally Naden from BBC Radio Lancashire called me last week to come on the radio this week I had to take it!

So, on 10/01/12 at 11am, I appeared on Sally's show as guest panelist alongside Roger Johnson from North West Tonight and Jacqueline Greaves from Ludus Dance, Lancaster. Roger talks about his new post presenting North West Tonight along with Ravir Singh and how he has had voice coaching for his speaking career. Jacqueline was on to discuss the fabulous dance opportunities that are linking in with the 2012 London Olympics. Contact Ludus Dance for more information.

January Sales! 

Happy New Year to everyone! Well a new year is upon us once again - just how quickly did that last one seem to go?! As all the shops are having a sale to help us recover from the indulgence of over spending at Christmas time, I too am having a January sale! See the home page for more information. Make sure you book any singing lessons by the end of January 2012 to take advantage of this offer and bespoke voice coaching courses by February 14th 2012 to take advantage of the price for the next 5 clients only.

Referal system

This year I am starting a new referral system, so that my current clients get some of the Happy New Yearness too! For every new client that comes from one of my regular clients (the new client must book a full month of singing lessons, or complete voice coaching course) they will get 10% of their next month booking. Plus, the new client will get one of their lessons FREE if they book by the end of January 2012.

Student Chrismas Concert 2011

A great show was put on this year by singing and piano students at the lovely Garstang Arts Centre. Thank you's go to SImon Halliday Tuition, the performers and the Rajah's of Bespoke Healthcare who sponsored the event with refreshments this year. Photos will be uploaded soon.

My favourite part of this year's concert was listening to the audience singing the Christmas medley we had put together. Simon and I put this together last year, but as you may remember, it was snowed off and I have been waiting a whole year to see the results of last years efforts. Gareth Malone (a young chap with a huge passion for choirs and bags of skills and talent) will have been very pleased with our combined efforts and the sound you all made! I was thrilled by the sound you made. Well done and all my best wishes to you for the Christmas holiday season.

Garstang School of Voice & Piano

The latest joint venture - the Garstang School of Voice & Piano, offers high quality tuition in the Garstang area

NOW FULLY BOOKED!!! Waiting list in operation and home visits available

Voice Work has joined forces with Simon Halliday Piano Tuition to offer voice, piano and keyboard lessons at the Garstang Arts Centre. The basic fees are £16.50 per half hour lesson. The first three lessons can be paid for seperately, but once you are ready to commit to regular lessons with us then payment is required in advance for each half term (following the Lancashire council school calendar).  Further terms and conditions are available from us on request. Please feel free to ask any questions you need to, as we always strive to give a fair and helpful service.

A Summer Concert 2011 with Kelly & Simon

The summer concert was a fantastic success! The audience were suitably delighted with the evening's entertainment and the strawberry tarts! Thank you to all those who helped make the evening a resounding success and you can be sure that there will be more to come from us.

Simon has taken a well earned rest a long way from home and I will be putting my feet up for a few days to recharge. I am very much looking forward to working with my students again next week and helping them achieve their goals, and for some of them, to work with them to become the best performers that they can be.

Student Concert - Thank you's

Thank you to all the performers, helpers and audience members who came along to this year's student concert. This year, an additional thank you goes to our sponsor 'Bespoke Healthcare'.

This year's concert truly was one of the best we have had yet! With excellent performances, stage lighting and Simon Halliday as compere the evening had a real sense of occasion. I feel really proud to have hosted such an enjoyable event with Simon and I know that many of the performers/students are proud to have taken part and are pleased with all the hard work they have been putting in to their lessons and study this year. Well done to all of you. Keep up the hard work and I look forward to the next concert!

Well this one has really come around quickly this year. Most of you have had verbal updates at your lessons, but just a reminder that any singers using backing tracks - you must bring a copy of your CD with only your track on, so I can just put it in and press play!

Voice Work and Simon Halliday Piano Tuition are holding not ONE but TWO concerts this summer! The first of the two will be the student concert on Saturday 25th June 2011. This will give students the opportunity to practice performing in public and to show your family and friends what you have been working on.

Cabus Village Hall Lessons Commenced

The village hall lessons are now under way with the first students through the doors last Sunday! During my session times, I place an A-Board sign visible from the A6 to help people locate it. Many thanks to those great people who have helped me make it - I have still to paint the logo in some beautiful gloss paints in order to complete it fully...

There are now only three time slots left, so do hurry and get yours booked in quickly before they go!

World Voice Day

Every year voice health professionals all over the world join together to recognize World Voice Day. This day is about encouraging EVERYONE to assess their vocal health and to take any action they need to improve or maintain good voice habits.

We are encouraged on a regular basis and from a variety of sources to look after the physical health and well being of our bodies in order that we can feel the benefits of having an active and healthy body. This then allows us to walk, run, play games, read and generally perform better in work and play situations. It has been my experience however, that little thought is given to the vocal tool  which we verbally express ourselves with. Our voice.

Good vocal health and voice care has for a long time been more recognised as something that is just for singers, actors, presenters etc. So just take a minute to think about who else uses their voice on a regular basis? Call centre staff, teachers, clergy, hairdressers, sports presenters, news broadcasters...the list continues and is quite long!

Over the next week or so leading up to World Voice Day, I will be adding tips and suggestions to my website on what you can do to look after your voice and how you can keep your voice healthy.

Concert January 2011

Well done to all those who performed at the belated Christmas Concert. I have photos of all of you which I will be emailing to you in due course. I hope to get some pictures up on here of some or all of you.

Thank you to everyone who came along to support the performers and finally, a huge thank you goes to one of my students and his partner who helped make sure that you all had somewhere to sit and refreshments at the end!

Concert 2010 Rescheduled

Due to the adverse driving conditions, the concert has been rescheduled for:

I have heard of a foot of snow in some places!
