About Voice Work

20 years experience in singing/acting performance and training.
I started singing in a choir at the tender age of 6 and couldn't sing a note in tune! Luckily I had a very patient choir leader who taught me to sing in tune. I then happily discovered many opportunities to perform and progress as a singer/actor. I eventually went on to train in Music Theatre, which covered a wide range of styles, for example: gospel, world music, musical theatre, classical, folk, jazz and blues. The speech and drama classes outside of my singing lessons further developed my passion for communication and voice and after more performance I went on to train and work as a Speech and Language Therapist. During all this time I have experience of working with professional singers, toastmasters, teachers and other voice users in both performance and clinical settings.
Working on development of my own performance and constantly improving and gaining new skills to pass on to my clients is of great importance to me. You can find out more information about my first concert performance with colleague Simon Halliday, on the news page.
Promoting healthy voice use
Although I am a qualified Speech and Language Therapist, I am not practising in this capacity at present. I want people to look after their voices and to enjoy using them, so my methods are built on promotion of healthy voice use rather than cure. If you are concerned that you may have a voice problem, then you must contact your GP. However, I am happy to work alongside healthcare professionals with whatever voice requirements you may have.
Range of ServicesI offer a full range of services, from private individual tuition to group sessions (singing teaching and voice coaching) and workshops for the promotion of healthy voice use. I also offer live concert performances for private or corporate events working alongside Simon Halliday. Please click on the next page for further details and links.
